Tinakori Lodge – a friend through history

Tinakori Lodge is a long-established, two-storey colonial guesthouse situated at 182 Tinakori Road in Wellington’s prestigious suburb of Thorndon. Thorndon is an historic area with old wooden buildings, specialty shops and historic homesteads - including the Prime Minister’s residence, and Katherine Mansfield House.

In 1868 Tinakori Lodge was built using native timber, and was established as a family home. Over a century later the home was refurbished and became Tinakori Lodge. Today, we continue to preserve and enrich the Lodge’s historic character.

Superb accommodation is offered within our elegant Lodge.  We find the ambience of the Lodge is popular with both international and corporate guests.

Tinakori Lodge is set amongst bush-clad hills and within easy walking distance of central Wellington. Tinakori Lodge stands well above the road and is insulated from any city bustle.
